About this guide
The pet builder offers a pedigree Quick start. The full canvas with generations, partners, and litters becomes available after the pet profile exists.
Before you start
An active account.
A new pet being created or an existing profile you manage.
Known facts and sources; both parents are not required.
Steps
Open section 6, Pedigree, in the pet builder or open an existing pet profile.
Choose mother and father from your pets, Platform results, or manual details.
Optionally add pedigree number, registry, kennel, club, note, and an existing pedigree document.
Create the profile and verify optional data; do not create a duplicate if only an additional block failed.
Open Add pedigree or Edit pedigree and verify the central card.
Add known links, run Analyze pedigree, and resolve blocking issues.
Choose Save and read the publication result.
Recommended order
Start with the root pet and parents, then ancestors, birth litter, partners, and pair litters. This makes duplicate detection easier.
When information is missing
Start with one parent or registration details. Leave unknown facts empty rather than guessing.
On a phone
The responsive web editor provides a bottom sheet, More menu, Add card action, and pinch zoom. A large graph is usually easier to arrange on desktop.
If the editor does not open
Check sign-in, management rights, and the selected profile. After a tab conflict, reload the current version.
Final checklist
Verify the root pet, duplicate cards, parent roles, ancestry direction, dates, species, and breed. For each litter, review parents, date, child count and order, and the single birth-litter rule. Do not turn an assumption into an exact fact. Check external profiles and approvals, run analysis again, and choose Save once. Read draft and publication status separately. Before sharing, verify family-history visibility and the signed-out public page. Generate a fresh PNG or PDF after important changes because an existing file will not update automatically.
What happens after saving
The Save button submits the whole working graph. After it succeeds, read the editor message: it states separately whether the published pedigree was updated or only a draft was kept for correction.
A draft is not the same as publication
Manual card and pet profile
A manual card exists only inside the pedigree and does not create a HappyPetSpace pet profile. A pet profile has an owner, HPS ID, and its own visibility settings; profile data is edited in the profile, not in the pedigree’s manual card.
