Steps
Choose Analyze pedigree.
Resolve critical and error items first.
Review every warning deliberately.
Complete known information items without inventing facts.
Run analysis again after changes.
Save once and read the result.
When blocked, correct the reported cause before retrying.
Duplicates and cycles
Remove duplicate cards or litter children. Verify ancestry direction so a pet never becomes its own ancestor.
Dates and roles
A parent cannot be younger than the child. Check sex and role without falsifying profile data to silence a message.
Species and breed
A species mismatch is serious; a breed difference can be a valid warning for mixed ancestry.
Litters
One profile has one birth litter, and a parent cannot also be a child in that litter.
Two tabs
Stop the old tab, reload the current version, and repeat only missing edits.
Local recovery
Compare local and server copies, then analyze again.
Draft without publication
Work was stored, but the public graph did not update because of errors, privacy, or approvals.
Final checklist
Verify the root pet, duplicate cards, parent roles, ancestry direction, dates, species, and breed. For each litter, review parents, date, child count and order, and the single birth-litter rule. Do not turn an assumption into an exact fact. Check external profiles and approvals, run analysis again, and choose Save once. Read draft and publication status separately. Before sharing, verify family-history visibility and the signed-out public page. Generate a fresh PNG or PDF after important changes because an existing file will not update automatically.
What happens after saving
The Save button submits the whole working graph. After it succeeds, read the editor message: it states separately whether the published pedigree was updated or only a draft was kept for correction.
A draft is not the same as publication
Manual card and pet profile
A manual card exists only inside the pedigree and does not create a HappyPetSpace pet profile. A pet profile has an owner, HPS ID, and its own visibility settings; profile data is edited in the profile, not in the pedigree’s manual card.
