About this guide
A birth litter describes the selected pet’s birth and littermates. A pair litter describes offspring of the root pet and one partner; the same pair can have several separate litters.
Before you start
An open editor.
A selected pet for a birth litter, or the root pet and partner for a pair litter.
Only known dates, place, count, and child details.
Steps
Choose Add birth litter or create a litter from a partner.
Enter name, date or period, place, and child count.
Fill slots from Manual, My pets, or Platform.
Arrange children in the intended display order.
Choose Save litter, then the top-level Save for the whole graph.
Run analysis and check duplicates, dates, parents, approvals, and the single-birth-litter rule.
One birth litter
A pet profile cannot be a canonical child in two confirmed birth litters.
Profile, manual card, and slot
A profile may become a published member. A manual card or empty slot remains draft representation and creates no profile.
Ordering
Order is presentation only. A compact view can show +N for additional children.
Detach a child
Detaching removes membership, not the profile, documents, photos, or ownership history.
Not a business operation
A family litter, breeder-business litter, listing, sale, and ownership transfer are separate entities. None is created automatically from the pedigree litter.
Final checklist
Verify the root pet, duplicate cards, parent roles, ancestry direction, dates, species, and breed. For each litter, review parents, date, child count and order, and the single birth-litter rule. Do not turn an assumption into an exact fact. Check external profiles and approvals, run analysis again, and choose Save once. Read draft and publication status separately. Before sharing, verify family-history visibility and the signed-out public page. Generate a fresh PNG or PDF after important changes because an existing file will not update automatically.
What happens after saving
The Save button submits the whole working graph. After it succeeds, read the editor message: it states separately whether the published pedigree was updated or only a draft was kept for correction.
A draft is not the same as publication
Manual card and pet profile
A manual card exists only inside the pedigree and does not create a HappyPetSpace pet profile. A pet profile has an owner, HPS ID, and its own visibility settings; profile data is edited in the profile, not in the pedigree’s manual card.

Distinguish a birth litter from a pair litter and use profiles, manual cards, or empty child slots without creating a sale or ownership transfer.
